Rebel flag is out

The Maryville School Board voted 3-1 to eliminate displays of the Rebel flag at the high school.

Good decision.

Some history should not be celebrated. Specifically, that little section of Blount County that sided with the South when the rest of the county was pro-Union. The South rebelled against the United States and took up arms against them. That's not something that any American should be proud of and isn't much of a heritage.

Everyone views things in different context. I think the man that said the following and all his followers are traitorous. And certainly nothing to be proud of.

"I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately, for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek social ownership of property, the abolition of the properties class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal. It all sums up into one single purpose -- the abolition of dog-eat-dog under which we live. I don't regret being part of the communist tactic. I knew what I was doing. I was not an innocent liberal. I wanted what the communists wanted and I traveled the United Front road to get it."

Some folks just don't have A CLU

Some folks just don't have A CLU
Mostly just rock stars though.

Displaying a rebel flag is unpatriotic.
Done by America haters.
They hate that blacks have equal rights and all the other freedoms that the stars and stripes represent.
They are traitors to their country and just don't have a clue.

O'Reilly Factor - March 31, 2005

Your parroted responses are becoming too easy to Google Ron.

Regardless Paul, it still makes you a commie. You are a member of the ACLU, are you not?

Posted by: Ron Rockstar at July 28, 2005 04:27 PM

I am, yes. Label me a commie if you like. I don't care what you think of me.

It's hard to figure out some people. You're proud to be a member of the ACLU, yet you are insulted when someone points out that the founder and most every head of this organization is either communist or has communist leanings. If you follow these people and become part of their organization then you are in the same boat with them. If you think different then the "useful idiot" slogan comes to mind for me. You are the same way on abortion. You think it is horrible and you can't even say what you think of a woman that has one, yet, you support it. Having it both ways is nice I guess but I don't buy it. If you know who Roger Baldwin was and the legacy that is still alive and thriving, then you know what you are aligned with. Communism. Wake up dude.

And where I got the quote was not from O'Reilly. I got it from Horowitz. At http://discoverthenetworks.com/groupProfile.asp?grpid=6145
This is a very interesting site. David Horowitz knows the liberals quite well. Extremely well. For anyone who may be reading the drivel at this site you should copy and paste the link above and discover for yourself just how "unAmerican" some of these groups such as the ACLU are.
You can lie to yourself if you wish Paul, but attacking me with the 'O'Reilly' thing doesn't win an argument.
Randy had you nailed on the smug arrogant liberal thing. I couldn't have described it that well. I guess it takes the former liberals such as Randy and Horwitz to really understand a liberal. I will sure never confess to understanding them.

If the ACLU were fighting to get rid of private property then you might have a point. But their position on eminent domain and private property are not communist in any way. The personal views of their founder are irrelevant.

If you can't understand the concept of civil liberties and protecting individuals from government interference then you're a just another fake "bandwagon" conservative.

Posted by: Paul Witt at July 29, 2005 09:43 AM

Funny, burning the American flag is labeled protest and free speech by the ACLU but a guy holding a sign (peacefully) in front of an Abortion clinic (a true protest) is guilty of hate speech. The government then 'interferes" and hauls him off to jail why the ACLU applauds.

But they do try and stop the government from interferring in NAMBLAs business.

I fully understand the concept of civil liberties.

When a terrorist has created a crime such as leaving a bomb on a plane, the ACLU thinks that they should not profile based on the country of origin. No they think that 6 year old white girl from It, Mississippi should be just as much a suspect as a 22 year old Syrian traveling on a 'student' visa.

Are the personal views of the founder of the Moral Majority relevant?

Are the personal views of a Supreme Court nominee relevant?

The ACLU applauded the arrest of an abortion protester? Really?

Protest is legal. Blocking access to a business is not. People have been arrested on both sides for doing that.

I just went over to the Democracy for Knoxville site and noticed that you guys are having orgasms over some World Can't Wait bullshit. As usual you probably don't know, or, think it is irrelevant that the founder of this organization is a member of the Revolutionary Communist Party (Maoist). He's a big time commie and proud of it. Have you noticed the friends you keep? Go read about the guy yourself. He's a lot like you. Maybe you will see the resemblence. http://www.discoverthenetwork.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1386

The gentlemen in DFK that I selected to keep the site up to date also happens to be a bit of a conspiracy theorist. He's computer literate and willing and able to post news from our group but also slips in his own, personal, ideas. I've asked him several times to stick to topics that we as a group agree on. I just had to move three posts from the news section to the general discussion section yesterday because they promote ideas that I don't agree with at all.

Nor do most sane people.

For the record, he's a great guy and on some issues, like election fraud, he's right on target.
