Bye Bubba
Betty Bean has this about the closing of South Knox Bubba's blog:
Fhhtttttt, he was gone!Wish I could say it ain’t so, but South Knox Bubba is history. Yep, the popular (indeed, award-winning) current events blog is no more. SKB had a rough month, mostly as a result of crossing swords with MetroPulse publisher Brian Conley over Bubba’s criticism of a MetroPulse story (the one about two girl reporters going to Nashville and getting drunk), and partly because of some disputes about censorship, but nobody expected SKB to up pull the plug, which he did Tuesday morning. Bubbaphiles who went to the site for their morning fix of politics and humor got an ominous screen reading “Game Over.”
Later, via e-mail, Bubba borrowed the title of Doug Adams’ “Fourth book of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy,” to say good-bye:
“So long and thanks for all the fish!”
He explained that the blog “... was supposed to be a fun hobby and it has become too much like work, and at times upsetting to me and my loved ones. Life’s too short, and it’s nice outside.
“I have corresponded with a lot of really nice people by way of the blog and the Web site, and met a few. I sincerely appreciate readers of the blog and all their support, and thank everyone for their participation in all the lively discussion. I’m sorry to end the “community gathering place” so abruptly, but there’s no graceful way to end it so that’s that.
Cheers! SKB

Make the suggestion of a blog where several of you guys can contribute your blog entries at your leisure. That way it could prevent the burn out from trying to be funny constantly or digging to the bottom of every issue. I know how ya'll hate right wingers, and SKB will always need a place to go vent. I have found some pretty good blogs with multiple bloggers on them. There is always fresh content. Most are satirical but satire always has an element of truth. You could possibly allow him to guest blog here. You lefties need to stick together. Without a message (other than Republicans are evil), unity is next to impossible.

Yeah, I clicked over there on Tuesday morning and found the message.
I'll really miss SKB.
Strangest thing, I was coming over here to report the very same thing and !poof! you already had a post up!
Congratulations on your achieving rockstar status Ron. [snicker] And that's from the Pope and the bear. [snort]
Bye, bye, Bubba!!
Hey, who's gonna do the Rocky Top Brigade now that Bubba's gone?

SayUncle took over the RTB.
That's a good suggestion Ron. Thanks.

I think you now understand why I do not trust the Knox News Sentinel. It is mainly the editors of the newspapers I get most disgusted with. They print their editorials as news pieces and bastardize their reporters first hand knowledge of a story to create a different story. Brian Conley was definitely trying to intimidate SKB and SKB rolled over a little too easy (IMO), but that is his call. I am not sure that what Conley did was a crime but it bordered on blackmail, and the fact that KNS left that out and was sympathetic to MetroPulse was wrong.
