Stick a fork in him

And just like that Frist's chances in 2008 evaporate.

We really didn't need Frist (and when I say Frist, I mean James Dobson) running for President or appointing extremist and activist Supreme Court justices anyway.

Posted by: gonzone at May 24, 2005 12:08 PM

Paul,

Would you explain why you think this kills Frist's chances in 2008?

Posted by: Randy at May 24, 2005 03:33 PM

Massive stellar failure of his signature time wasting issue? Pissing off the religious right in the process? With only one year left in the Senate? Not exactly a resume highlight.

Posted by: Paul Witt at May 24, 2005 07:44 PM

Why are you posting your response as questions? Being a smart ass? LOL

In the end I don't think the things you listed will matter much. Have you forgotten that voters seem to overlook many of the things politicians do that piss them off? Most of them aren't paying attention anyway?

Can't think of another statement with end with a ?

Given all of Paul's failed predictions regarding election outcomes, there is no reason to believe his conclusion on this one either.

Posted by: Margaret at May 25, 2005 12:42 AM

We're talking about winning a primary against a John McCain or a Jeb Bush. Sure if he manages to get past those two he'll have the support of Dobson and the full American Taliban but if they have other, more productive, people to support in the primaries, a massive failure like this will hurt. He's done. His only chance is a field of solid, centrist, Republicans like McCain or Giuliani.

And yes Randy, I was being a smartass.

Posted by: Paul Witt at May 25, 2005 10:19 AM

Let him worry about which Republicans are going to get elected, seeing as how he doesn't have to worry about which Democrat will be elected president.

Posted by: Ron at May 25, 2005 03:23 PM

Paul,

When you run for office as you have said you would like to do someday, how would you explain to potential supporters and voters who you were referring to as the "full American Taliban"? I think we would all like to know to whom you apply this inflammatory label.

Well, it looks like Frist has flip flopped yet again and looking to get back in the good graces of his puppetmaster Dobson. I wish ole' cat-killer would make his mind up!

Posted by: gonzone at May 27, 2005 09:03 AM

No need to wait until then.

I'm talking about Dobson, Falwell and Robertson. I'm talking about any religious leader that advocates legislating their faith or any religious person that supports a leader that advocates such a thing. I'm talking about any Christian that attempts to destroy the separation between church and state.

I realize a lot of well meaning Christians are being led around by their nose on some of these things, but ignorance is no excuse. Especially when most of these things are contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ himself.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9). Ron just called such people "pansy-ass sissy boys" yet he claims to be a Christian. You have the recent example of a Baptist Church in NC that kicked out 9 members for voting for Kerry and a church here in Knoxville that put a message on their sign that said "no hope for a hell-bound Pope" (or something like that).

Some Christians in this country need to realize that while a person's values should be used by everyone in every decision they make, in our country and with our government they should never be the ONLY thing that drives what we legislate.

Amen Paul.
Tell it brother.
The dominionists must be stopped.

Preach constantly.
Use words only when necessary.

Read the Bible.
Don't use it as a club to beat others about the head with.

Great try Paul. Seeing as how you are God can you please stop all the fucking wars you bitch about please. And feed everyone on earth a great meal tonight. I always thought God was very loving but now that I know you are God I can assume just the opposite.

So you know who is and isn't a Christian. That is amazing. Only God knows that. While you are quoting the Bible why don't you quote the part judge not lest ye be judged.

I guess you think God wants us all just to submit to being executed by lunatic Arabs, huh? You are fucking nuts. It is one thing to try and broker peace. It is another to try and broker peace forever and ever without getting results while people are dying. You know what I mean. Does Israel ring a bell? Yeah I bet it does. But for you they would just be more horrible God fearing people. They should give up their land and just give it to the Palestinians who never had a homeland to start with.

Is that what God wants? You seem to be an expert on what God wants. What is God's solution for the middle east? If you can't answer this then please quit speaking for God, will ya'?

Does God want Gay marriage? Does God want abortion? Does God want prohibition? Does God want gambling? Please answer these few things as we could cure a lot of the ills in the world by stating that Paul Witt speaking on behalf of God has declared that this is what God wants.

You tried to attribute to me that I called true Christians, pansy-ass sissy boys. I did not. I called people like you that. There is a difference. You won't figure it out. You don't have the reasoning ability.

You take what a few people do and try and pin it on a lot. Typical liberal bullshit. And you are full of it.

I think all churches should give up there tax exempt status just for the reason of being able to steer folks on who to vote for. Anyone like you, vote no.

Anyone like gonzone, vote no and pray real hard.

Like all liberals there is only one thing you care about. Your signature issue. Roe v Wade. If anyone is pro-life they become your enemy and that is why you hate religion so bad. If they take away Roe v Wade you have nothing, well.... except a reason to bitch constantly. Which you already do.

You (being God and all) tell me why Jesus turned over the tables in the temple. And why did he crack a whip at them? Why did he call them names? Your version of Jesus would have him sitting holding hands with some guy with flowers in his hair singing Kumbaya, so you must be able to clear up this discrepency.

And there is a whole book at the end of the Bible called Revelations. Ever heard of it? Just a quick glance of that book will describe a battle that is the mother of all battles. You will never guess who will be leading the charge for God. I am not going to tell you. I don't want to spoil your surprise when you read it for the first time.

Wonder why God doesn't just tell satan, "Oh Lucifer, let's just forget all this and I will forgive you for all the wrong you have done. We are going to do this the peaceful, non violent way". You should know the answer to this.

Please, as spokesman for God, get it right.

Blah blah blah

I'm not judging you Ron. At least not in the biblical sense. You're an idiot but whether you end up in heaven or hell is between you and God.

We're all imperfect people and your imperfections are no greater or less than mine, but I'd suggest you actually read scripture or take a Bible study class.

Posted by: Paul Witt at May 28, 2005 04:29 PM

Blah Blah Blah, act all self righteous and then say you didn't when you are called on it, remember, "yet he claims to be a Christian"? This is not the first time you have said this kind of shit. Remember Roy Moore. You said he was not a real Christian but the governor of Alabama was, because he thought they should levy another tax that suited your liberal agenda.

You still didn't answer a single question. Obviously because you know if you answer them truthfully they will ex-communicate your ass from the pro-choice party (PCP). That's what you should call yourselves. The PCP. It would be approriate. All you folks tanked up on your own intellectualism.

What scripture did I get wrong, Mr. Omnipotent.

Sorry I did not mean to post that anonymous. I wish it would remember who the hell I am.

Posted by: Ron at May 28, 2005 09:26 PM

It doesn't remember your settings when you select yes for "Remember Me"?

I wasn't being self righteous or at least that wasn't my intention. But I am as opinionated about my faith as anything else. I'm a Methodist and while I feel we have the right take on what it means to be a Christian I don't think we, or anyone, has it all right. Which is my problem with fundamentalists.

Roy Moore was using his faith to advance his political career through fake controversies. We'll see how he does in his run for Governor. A smaller version of the same ploy got him elected to the Alabama Supreme Court. Their governor read a thesis from a seminary student that changed his mind on the fundamental fairness of their tax code, from a Christian's perspective. Google up "The least of these" and "taxes". The entire paper is available online.

Oh and your view of Revelations is pretty "interesting". Who is going to be "leading the charge for God"? Please enlighten me.
